Hi neighbour,
Hope you all had a great week, and are enjoying the warmer spring temperatures! It’s great to see people getting outside and enjoying all the wonderful parks and pathways in Bay Ward. Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on this week.
City Council: Commemorating the Mother Elm Tree
At City Council this week, I was happy to pass a motion, seconded by my colleague Councillor Gower, to use funds from my Constituency Services Budget to cover the cost of converting a section of the Mother Elm tree into a piece of furniture for shared community use. This initiative was championed by Woodpark residents who wanted to commemorate the large Mother Elm tree that was removed as part of the construction of the Stage 2 LRT West Extension. Thank you to the community for making this happen, and I look forward to finding a suitable location for this important piece of local history.
Saying “Thank you” to Ottawa’s Winter Trail Volunteers!
On Wednesday, I was thrilled to host my annual breakfast to show appreciation for Winter Trail volunteers at City Hall. As an avid cross-country skier, I share, along with community members, the benefits from the hard work these volunteers do all winter long. Their commitment keeps this city active and makes the winter months not just something to be endured, but a time to be celebrated. Thanks to Mayor Sutcliffe and all my council colleagues who stopped by to show their support for the wonderful work of this dedicated group. See you all on the trails next winter!
Mark your calendars! Upcoming coffee chat: Thursday, April 30, 4-6 pm
Finally, I wanted to share that my next pop-up coffee chat is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, at the Bridgehead in Fairlawn Plaza (2140 Carling Ave). Drop in anytime between 4 and 6 pm to ask questions, share your views, and meet some of your neighbours! I love these opportunties to connect with residents in person, and look forward to seeing you there. All are welcome!
