Hi neighbour,
Hope you all had a restful spring break! It’s been a busy couple of weeks here in the Bay Ward office. Thank you to everyone who came out to our Spring Open House on Tuesday night, and to all the city teams who joined in to answer residents’ questions. I loved seeing so many of you in person, and chatting about how we can make this city better for everyone. The presentation from the Stage 2 LRT team is available on my website. I also want to thank Mia’s Indian Cuisine and the Britannia Coffeehouse for providing the delicious, local treats!
This week at City Hall: Refreshed Plan to Improve Housing Stability and Reduce Homelessness
On Tuesday, March 24th, a joint meeting of the Planning and Housing Committee and Community Services Committee approved a refreshed 10 Year Housing and Homelessness Plan. The plan is Ottawa’s long-term roadmap to improve housing stability and support residents experiencing or at risk of homelessness. As chair of Ottawa Community Housing (OCH), I was especially proud to see this plan identify OCH as a critical partner in scaling affordable and community housing across the city, and I’m looking forward to seeing actionable outcomes from this strategy in the coming years.
Stage 2 LRT Construction Update: Closure of Woodroffe Ave North of Richmond Road
A reminder that the long term closure of Woodroffe Ave North of Richmond Road begins this coming Monday, March 30th. Originally, the closure was scheduled to end in Fall 2026, but my office has worked with the LRT team, and local residents to shorten the full closure until August 2026, with a partial reopening in the Fall. More details are available in the Stage 2 section below (Link). As always, please share feedback and concerns regarding construction with the Stage 2 team (stage2@ottawa.ca), and be sure to keep my office in the loop (bayward@ottawa.ca).
Important reminder: Your waste pick-up day may change next week!

The City is starting a new curbside collection contract on March 30th, and as a result about half of Ottawa’s residents will see their curbside collection day change starting next week. Alot of Bay Ward residents will see their collection day change from Thursday to Friday. The best way to check if your address is impacted is to view your collection calendar online. If you are affected by this change, you will see your updated collection day on the week of Monday, March 30 and beyond.
Please note: There will be no curbside collection on Good Friday, April 3, or Easter Monday, April 6. As a result, collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of each week (for example, for residents whose collection day is Friday; it will be Saturday for the next 2 weeks).
