Happy Mother’s Day!
Each year my office has the pleasure of putting together The Bay Ward Mother’s Day Tea. A luncheon, held at the Ron Kolbus Centre at the beginning of May, in celebration and recognition of mothers. Last year the pandemic kept us from being able to join in person, so we decided to postpone. We really missed being able to come together, to say hello and share time with one another. So, this year we decided to go virtual, with a different twist to the event, and I am glad we did! Last Tuesday night we had Mother’s Day Tea-Rivia! The evening was well attended and included prizes, entertainment and many laughs.
With all the meetings that our office puts together these days to keep you informed it was so much fun to switch gears! I want to thank my staff Connie and Georgie for putting together the trivia questions that were themed around mothers. We even had a section with live musical trivia lead by talented local musician Mark Evenchick. Songs sung by Mark included several famous Ottawa musicians like the Five Man Electrical Band, Paul Anka and Lynn Miles. Mark even lead us through a sing-a-long with songs that he wrote. Some of us kept our mikes on and sang along whether on or off key but the smiles were all there. I want to thank Mark for his warm and wonderful performance!
It was a pleasure to give out prizes from many local merchants, giving everyone who won the opportunity to buy and support our neighbourhood small businesses. Thanks to Britannia Coffee Shop, Flowers by Maggie, City Love Flowers, PurEnvi eco-spa, Taj Indian Cuisine, Biagio’s Kitchen and Catering plus Dawn and Joe Reynolds for their prize donation of a music recording session for a family, vidit their site at neptunesmusic.net. We are so fortunate to have such amazing choices right here in our community.
Hopefully next year we can meet again in person to share some more smiles and a few laughs together.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mom-type persons out there who support us every day!
