To enable the ongoing construction of the new LRT cut and cover tunnel through Byron Linear park, a section of Woodroffe Avenue south of Richmond Road will be closed to traffic for approximately two weeks starting the evening of May 28. The extended closure is required to complete preliminary work on the tunnel where it crosses Woodroffe Avenue and is required to help reduce the overall duration of construction across this intersection.
The contractor is doing preliminary excavation and is installing temporary decking in preparation for construction of the LRT tunnel beneath Woodroffe as part of the O-Train West Extension of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
Woodroffe Avenue will be open to local traffic between Knightsbridge Road and Carling Avenue, only. Signed detours are in place via Croydon Avenue to the west of Woodroffe Avenue or Churchill Avenue to the east. North/south cycling and pedestrian connectivity remain open throughout the closure.
Buses are not rerouted through communities. All OC Transpo routes currently operating on this section of Woodroffe are detoured. Signage is in place at each impacted bus stop, directing customers to the closest available bus stop. Customers can also find out where to catch their bus by calling 613-741-4390 or visiting octranspo.com.
