Please be advised that, following the Woodpark neighbourhood’s concerns about construction trucks on residential streets south of Byron Avenue, Councillor Kavanagh, the Rail Construction Program and KEV undertook an exercise to design a truck-only access and an improved egress into and out of Woodpark.
The result is that KEV’s construction trucks will no longer be routed through Woodpark once the new modified egress at Richardson, and access point at Byron (extension to Richmond) is built. Trucks heading eastbound on Richmond Road will enter Byron Avenue at the new one-way access roadway.
Trucks heading westbound on Richmond Road will continue to access Byron Avenue by turning left at Woodroffe Avenue and making and immediate right onto Byron Avenue. All trucks will either be exiting Byron Avenue in the northbound direction using Ancaster Avenue and Richardson Avenue to cut through Byron Linear Park to access Richmond eastbound, or they will continue east on Byron Avenue for a right turn onto Woodroffe Avenue southbound. The new entrance at Byron Avenue will be for construction access only (and be closed off with construction barrels outside of working hours to prevent infiltration of non-construction traffic), while the redesigned Richardson Avenue egress will be for all vehicles. All required signage will be in place prior to its use.
KEV has advised the City that their current schedule has these works beginning the week of August 17th and available for use the week of August 24th.
Please note that construction timelines are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen issues.
