The Stage 2 LRT team will undertake significant construction activities on the O-Train West extension in preparation for future tracks and stations. Starting overnight on November 1, Highway 417 westbound off-ramp to Pinecrest will be closed until summer 2023 to safely complete construction of the future LRT that will run along the existing Transitway corridor, on the north side of Highway 417. The guideway will run in a trench underneath Pinecrest Road and Moodie Drive. Select ramps at these locations must be re-built and/or shifted in order to accommodate construction activities for the guideway.
Construction activities have been scheduled to minimize the duration and extent of impacts on all modes of transportation and the local community. Cycling and pedestrian routes will remain open during construction. The final design includes some enhanced connectivity features at some locations, such as new sidewalks and multi-use pathways. For each closure, signed vehicle detours and variable portable message signs (VPMS) will be provided.
OC Transpo will use the ramp up until November 5. Overnight, they will be detoured off of the ramp to complete construction activities. From November 5 until December 19 there will be a bus-only off-ramp that OC Transpo will use. After December 19, the buses will use an alternate route. Once OC Transpo has the communications materials ready to share, our team will publish them.
