June 20 – 27 | Volunteers needed for Seeds and Soil Project!
There are 3000 seed and soil packages available to distribute throughout the community by end of day Saturday, June 27th, with the Just Food Farm being ONE of the sites for people to pick up.
We need volunteers at the Just Food Farm site during the seeds and soil pick-ups times to hand out the seeds and instructions, let folks know how much soil is available per person, and ensure physical distancing is maintained by the people coming in.
WHEN: Saturday, June 20 (yes, tomorrow!) or Saturday, June 27
Please sign-up for a shift: 9:30am-12pm or 12pm-3pm
Or Evenings next week:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday- 4-7pm

Just Food and the City of Ottawa’s Human Needs Task Force are partnering
to provide free seeds and soil to 3000 households living on lower-income or who lost income because of COVID-19 in Ottawa.
June 22 & 26 | Even MORE Potato Planting for Emergency Food Programs
We have MORE seed potatoes that need to be planted.
(Big thank you to the volunteers who planted all the sweet potatoes!)

All these potatoes will be going directly to emergency food programs to help those living on lower incomes.

Potato Watering Team Needed to water potatoes over the next 3 weeks
We are looking for 2 small teams to water potatoes and sweet potatoes particularly over the next three weeks. We are growing them for emergency food programs.
WHEN: Now that these potatoes have been planted, they will need to be watered regularly, keeping an eye on the rain to keep them growing for the rest of the season.
