I can’t extend my thanks enough to residents who have so far provided support and are eager to continue helping their neighbours and the community recover from last weekends severe weather event. Residents can now volunteer if they would like with the City’s Emergency Operations Center’s recovery efforts in two ways this weekend.
The City has launched the Cleaning the Capital: After the storm program. This is like the City’s Cleaning the Capital program, residents can work together to clean up their neighbourhood. Information on how residents can register and where to pick up supplies are available online.
Residents can also volunteer with our community partner, Samaritan’s Purse, who will coordinate debris removal on private property for residents who were hit particularly hard. To volunteer with their efforts, please register with Samaritan’s Purse by visiting their website or calling them at 1-844-547-2663. Residents will assist with debris removal and property clean-up. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and youth ages 16 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
