Update August 9, 2020
Work was completed this week on the Carlingwood Mall future site of the Canadian Tire store. CT plans to mobilize and commence construction in September, 2020. From previous meetings with Canadian Tire, they said that it normally takes 18 months to build a store.
Update June 17, 2020
The original remediation was substantially completed in December 2019. As most people noticed the excavation was quite a bit larger than originally anticipated. The site was shut down over the winter with the exception of managing the ground water which is a constant battle.
The owners of Carlingwood were planning to commence work again in March 2020, however all construction was shut down due to the COVID provincial order.
There are two other areas on the area which will require remediation. We have determined the scope that is required and tendered this new work.
They are hoping to commence the new work within the next week to ten days. The current completion date for the remediation and back filling of the excavation is late September 2020.
Then Canadian Tire will be in a position to start their work. Once they start an opening date can be established
