When I was notified that the demolition permits were issued for 830-840 Alpine, I contacted the City to re-confirm that the significant tree at this location was protected.
I was informed that the plan approved by the Committee of Adjustment in May 2021 does account for the retention and protection of this significant tree. Conditions of approval include following the recommendations of the Tree Information Report for protection and mitigation, as well as to retain securities for the value of the tree for a period of 5 years, to help ensure that it is adequately protected for the entire duration of construction.

It does not appear that a building permit has been issued at this time, but the demolition permit has. The Forest Inspector will review this site to ensure the appropriate installation of fencing, etc, as per the Tree Information Report.
