The official opening of the new Metro Store at Lincoln Fields is scheduled for October 28th, 2021. I asked how OC Transpo would be handling the changes to bus routes.
Regarding the timing of transit service adjustments at Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre, unfortunately the roadways where transit service is ultimately planned to operate within the site are not expected to be complete until the end of November. Once this work is done, OC Transpo will adjust service to the final routing and will begin to service the permanent bus stops adjacent to the Metro.
See below for details of how service has transitioned during construction and what will be finally implemented. Customers will have access to the new grocery store.
Summer 2020:
The detour routing shown to the right was implemented, utilizing a new bus only roadway and private driveway for access in/out of the site. Temporary bus stops were placed on the north side of the new Metro building location.
September 2021:
The image to the left shows the current routing through the site. This change to the initial detour was implemented this past September to accommodate construction. No adjustments were made to the temporary stop locations.
Ultimate Routing
As noted above, once roadways within the shopping centre are complete, transit service will be adjusted to operate along the central roadway on the west side of the Metro, with stops adjacent to the Metro building (shown as the blue and red dots on the figure below).
The east/west section of the roadway that connects Croydon to the central roadway and our ultimate bus stop locations will remain under construction until the end of November 2021. At this time, transit service will be adjusted to the ultimate configuration.
