The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:
Alexandra Bridge – Alexandra Bridge is closed to motorist until Sunday, May 24 to allow Public Services and Procurement Canada to complete work on the bridge. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.
Bank Street canal bridge – The curb lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions on the Bank Street canal bridge have been converted to pedestrian walkways. The bridge now has one traffic lane and one pedestrian lane in each direction, between Wilton Crescent and Echo Drive.
Bronson Avenue – Expect off-peak and overnight lane closures on Bronson Avenue between Colonel By Drive and Lakeview Terrace. The closures will take place from Thursday, May 7 until Friday, May 15 for the construction of a new northbound transit-priority lane.
Carling Avenue – Lanes on Carling Avenue will close intermittently in both directions between Churchill Avenue North and Kirkwood Avenue, daily, from 9 am until 3:30 pm for drilling. The work will start, Monday, May 11 and last for approximately two weeks.
Farmers Way – Farmer’s Way will close to traffic daily from 7 am to 7 pm between Piperville and Leitrim roads for resurfacing. Work will start on Tuesday, May 12 to and last until late June. Traffic will be detoured from Leitrim and Piperville roads to Anderson Road. Cyclists and pedestrian access will be maintained on Farmer’s Way.
Highway 174 –The eastbound off ramp from Highway 174 to Place d’Orléans Drive from Highway 174 eastbound will be reduced by one lane during off -peak hours for resurfacing, from Monday, May 11 to Thursday, May 14. A full closure of the ramp might be required nightly, from 10 pm to 5 am, weather permitting. A signed detour will be in place.
Metcalfe Street – Metcalfe Street will be reduced to one northbound lane between Frank and Lewis streets from Monday, May 11 to Monday, May 18 for watermain and sewer work as part of the Elgin Street Renewal project.
Montreal Road – Lane reductions will remain in place at the intersection of Montreal Road and Vanier Parkway until Friday, May 15 for watermain work, as part of the Montreal Road Revitalization project.
O-Train Line 1 – The O-Train Line 1 will close temporarily and be replaced by R1 bus service from Saturday, May 9 until Wednesday, May 13 to complete maintenance activities and work relating to issues that have impacted service. More information is available on octranspo.com.
Queen Street – Queen Street will close to motorist between Bronson Avenue and Bay Street as part of the Bay Street Cycling Facility project from Monday, May 11 to Thursday, May 21. A signed detour will be in place. Access for pedestrians and cyclist will be maintained.
Queen Elizabeth Driveway – Queen Elizabeth Driveway will close daily to motorists between Laurier and Fifth avenues from 8 am to 8 pm until Sunday May 10, Access for motorists to cross Queen Elizabeth Driveway at Pretoria Bridge and enter Pretoria Avenue will be maintained. Access for emergency vehicles and OC Transpo buses will be maintained. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing. Please consult the NCC website for the latest on the status of the pilot project beyond May 10.
Snake Island Road – Lanes on Snake Island Road will close intermittently in both directions between Nixon Drive and Stagecoach Road for resurfacing, from Thursday, May 7 until the end of June. Flag personnel will be onsite directing traffic, pedestrians and cyclists through the construction site.
