Upcoming events and projects will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:
Airport Parkway – The Airport Parkway will have intermittent lane reductions from 9 pm to 6 am on weekdays and from 9 pm to 7 am on weekends, until Saturday, June 22. In addition, the on and off ramps at Hunt Club Road and Uplands Drive / Lester Road will have intermittent nightly ramp closures for road rehabilitation.
Bronson Avenue – Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane will be closed on Bronson Avenue between Arlington and Chamberlain avenues, until the end of August 2019, as part of the Bronson Avenue Reconstruction Project. One southbound lane will remain open. Northbound traffic, including OC Transpo buses, will be detoured from Bronson Avenue, east along Chamberlain Avenue, north along Kent Street, west along Gladstone Avenue, then back to Bronson Avenue. Westbound access to Highway 417 will still be available via Catherine Street/Raymond Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the construction period. Cyclists will be detoured northbound via Percy Street to Gladstone Avenue.
Elgin Street – Gladstone Avenue at Elgin Street is closed for up to seven weeks for underground utility work and intersection reconstruction as part of the Elgin Street Renewal project. While closed, Frank Street is open to route traffic and transit across Elgin Street. The westbound cycling lane on Gladstone from Cartier to Elgin is temporarily closed during this time. Vanier Parkway – Vanier Parkway will be reduced to one northbound lane at Presland Road on Saturday, June 15 between 9 am and 3:30 pm for the drilling of a borehole.
Wellington Street – Wellington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection with Lyon Street for the next two weekends, to accommodate the construction of a concrete crosswalk. The lane closures will be in place from Friday, June 14 at 6 pm to Monday, June 17 at 6 am, and again from Friday, June 21 at 6 pm to Monday June 24 at 6 am.
Events
Glowfair – On Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, Bank Street will be closed between Laurier Avenue and Gladstone Avenue for the Glowfair festival.
Italian Festival – On Friday, June 14 at 4 pm – 1am, Saturday, June 15 from 3pm – 1am, and Sunday, June 16 from 3pm to 10 pm the following streets will be closed for the Italian Festival:
- Preston Street between Carling Avenue and Poplar
Street;
- Gladstone Avenue between Rochester Street and Loretta Avenue.
Intermittent short-term road closures will occur on the following streets due to programming:
- Willow Street between Rochester Street and Preston
Street;
- Aberdeen Street between Rochester Street and Preston Street;
- Beech Street between Railway Street and Rochester Street;
- Norman Street between Rochester Street and Preston Street;
- Pamila Street between Rochester Street and Preston Street;
- Adeline between Rochester Street and Preston Street.
Ferrari Demo Zone – On Saturday, June 15 Carling Avenue will be closed from 10 am to 5 pm between Champagne Avenue and Preston Street.
Shoppers Run for Women – Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway will be closed from Vimy Place to Goldenrod Driveway from 7am to 12 noon on Saturday, June 15.
Carivibe Parade – On Saturday, June 15,the following roads will be closed from noon to 2 pm for the Carivibe parade:
- Wellington Street eastbound between Lyon Street and Elgin northbound;
- Wellington Street westbound between Mackenzie Avenue and Kent Street;
- Elgin Street southbound between Wellington Street and Laurier Avenue;
- Laurier Avenue between Elgin Street and Nicholas Street;
Carivibe Beach Festival – From 8 am on Friday, June 14 to 1 am on Sunday, June 16, Centrum Boulevard will be closed between Brisebois Crescent and Prestone Drive for the Carivibe Beach Festival.
