Ottawa – The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:
Bay Street – From Monday, April 20 to Friday April 24, the intersection at Bay and Albert streets will be closed for the Bay Street Cycling Facility project. There will be vehicular, pedestrian and cycling detours. A signed detour will be in place. Two-way access on Bay Street will be permitted to allow local access to residences and businesses on Bay Street between Albert Street and Queen Street.
Bank Street canal bridge: The curb lanes in both the north and southbound directions on the Bank Street canal bridge have been converted to pedestrian walkways. The bridge will have one traffic lane and one pedestrian lane in each direction. This will stretch from Wilton Crescent on the north side to Echo Drive on the south side.
Colonel By Drive – On Saturday, April 18 Colonel By Drive will close between Daly Avenue and Pretoria Bridge from 5:15 am to 10 am and between the Bronson Avenue Bridge and Hog’s Back Road from 8 am to 2 pm to remove facilities from the Rideau Canal Skateway. Eagleson Road – From Monday, April 20 for approximately one month, Eagleson Road southbound will be reduced to one lane between Michael Cowpland Drive and the Eagleson Place plaza to replace a watermain. The plaza parking lot entrance on Eagleson Road will be closed. The plaza can be accessed from Michael Cowpland Drive. Signage will be on site.
Florence Street – Starting next week until fall, Florence Street is closed to motorists between Bank and Kent streets for the Florence Street and McLeod Street road, sewer and watermain reconstruction project. Access will be maintained for local traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. A signed detour is in place.
Kanata South Link project–Until mid-May, the intersections at West Hunt Club Road and Moodie Drive, and at Old Richmond and West Hunt Club roads are reduced to a single lane on weekdays and Saturdays to prepare to widen the road. Traffic will be directed on site.
McLeod Street – Starting next week until fall, McLeod Street is closed to motorists between Lyon Street and Bronson Avenue for the Florence Street and McLeod Street road, sewer and watermain reconstruction project. Access will be maintained for local traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. A signed detour will be in place.
Montreal Road – Montreal Road from North River Road to Marier Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction, including the Cummings Bridge, for the Montreal Road Revitalization project. As well, North River road from Montreal Road to Selkirk Street will have lane reductions in both directions. Each of these impacts will be in place for the next week.
Riverside Drive – From Monday, April 20 to mid-September, one alternating northbound or southbound lane will be closed on Riverside Drive between Hunt Club and Walkley roads on weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm to resurface the road. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.
Queen Elizabeth Drive – From Saturday, April 18 to Sunday April 26, Queen Elizabeth Driveway will close to motorists between Laurier and Fifth avenues from 8 am to 8 pm. Access for motorists to cross Queen Elizabeth Driveway at Pretoria Bridge and enter Pretoria Avenue will be maintained. Access for emergency vehicles and OC Transpo buses will be maintained. This closure is a pilot project that will be managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing for pedestrians. Residents are reminded to practice physical (social) distancing, avoid crowds, maintain a distance of two metres from those around you and stay home if you are feeling unwell.
