Ottawa – These upcoming projects will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:
Climate Strike March – On Friday, September 27, traffic disruptions are expected between 11 am and 2 pm in the downtown core due to the Climate Strike March. The march will be on Wellington Street, Elgin Street, Laurier Avenue West, Kent Street, Parliament Hill, and in the ByWard Market.
Carling Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound – The Carling Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound will be closed until Monday, November 4 to rehabilitate the Merivale Road bridge. Vehicles will be detoured via Carling Avenue to the Maitland Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound.
Elgin Street – The crossing at Somerset Street West and Elgin Street will reopen on Monday, September 30. The westbound crossing at MacLaren and Elgin streets and the eastbound crossing at Cooper and Elgin streets will close. Visit the traffic impacts page for more information and detour maps.
Highway 417 – From Friday, September 27 until Sunday, September 29, Highway 417 will be reduced to one lane in both directions, nightly between 10 pm and 9am, between Island Park Drive and Maitland Avenue, to rehabilitate Merivale Road and widen Highway 417.
The following ramps will be closed from Friday, September 27 at 10 pm until Saturday, September 28 at 9 am:
- The westbound on-ramp at Parkdale Avenue
- The westbound off-ramp at Island Park Drive
- The westbound off-ramp at Carling Avenue
The following ramps will be closed from Saturday, September 28 at 10 pm until Sunday, September 29 at 9 am:
- The westbound on-ramp at Carling Avenue
- The westbound off-ramp at Maitland Avenue
Lansdowne’s Aberdeen Square – Princess Patricia Way at Lansdowne’s Aberdeen Square is now permanently closed to vehicles. The space will be converted into a gathering space and entertainment hub.
