As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, a temporary crossover linking motor vehicle traffic from Byron Avenue to Richmond Road is under construction from Monday, April 22 to Monday, May 13. Once construction of the crossover is complete, access to the east driveway of 727 Richmond Road will be blocked with traffic control barrels for the remainder of 2024 and potentially into 2025. Closing this driveway access is necessary for road safety in the area.
Residents of 727 Richmond will continue to have access to Richmond Road via the west driveway of the building. Efforts have been made in the design of the crossover to ensure emergency vehicles and waste removal vehicles will continue to have uninterrupted access to the property. OC Tranpso bus stops located to the west of 727 Richmond will be relocated to the intersection of Byron Avenue and Redwood Avenue. A pedestrian pathway will be maintained from the sidewalk in front of 727 Richmond Road to the intersection of Byron Avenue and Cleary Avenue.
What: Closure of east driveway access at 727 Richmond Road.
When: Monday, May 13 at 7 a.m. until December 31, 2024 (with possibility of extension into 2025).
Why: Road reconfiguration required for advancement of the Stage 2 OLRT project. Where: 727 Richmond Road.
Anticipated Impacts
Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change. Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety. The safety of the public and workers is paramount. Thank you for your patience during construction.
