I am very excited to share the following updates regarding the Richmond Road/Byron Linear Park construction plans and landscaping plans! My office has worked with Stage 2 LRT staff to ensure the construction of these rebuilds and reinstatements begin sooner than originally anticipated. I am very pleased to see the first phase of construction will begin this weekend. Many residents are eager to see the landscaping plans for Stage 2 LRT, and I am happy to say that the design team is currently focused on completing the landscape designs for Stage 2 of the project. As part of our dedication to the community, we will soon create a version of these designs specifically for public consumption.
Many of you have been eager to see the design plan for Richmond Road and Byron, and I am happy to be able to share them with you. We will see the creation of an improved pedestrian realm with concrete sidewalks, as well as separated cycletracks. There will also be many raised crossings and protected intersections.
My office also requested interim measures be placed outside of 833 Richmond Road, where we constantly see and hear of people parking on the asphalt sidewalk. The Stage 2 construction office stated they would implement temporary Pin Curbs to delineate the roadway from the sidewalk. Doing so will stop motorists from parking on the sidewalk and make it safer for pedestrians using the current asphalt sidewalk while we await the building of the concrete permanent sidewalk.

Throughout the year, Stage 2 LRT will gradually release these drawings to keep residents informed and engaged in the development process. Due to the project’s size, covering multiple sections and areas, plans will be released in stages. This phased approach allows Stage 2 LRT to promptly share accurate and detailed information. Once each section is complete, it will be sent to my office for distribution.
Currently, we have completed drawings for the Richmond Road corridor and Byron Linear Park, and Lincoln Fields, with Connaught coming very soon. The next section to be developed, as requested by my office per resident inquires, will be between Richmond Road and Dominion, though completion of this will require some time and effort.
