Public Notice April 2021
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working on Edgeworth Avenue for the relocation and replacement of underground storm water, watermain and sanitary lines. This work requires a road closure on Edgeworth Avenue between Richmond Road and Lawn Avenue. This will involve restrictions to driveway access and street parking for residents. Work will begin at Lawn Avenue and move in a northerly direction up to Richmond Road. This will occur 4 times.
WHAT: Edgeworth Avenue north will be closed during construction and will only be accessible to local traffic. Noise and vibration from construction involving rock breaking, and hydro-vac truck operations.
WHEN: As early as end of April through August 2021, during the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
WHY: Relocation of utilities work on Edgeworth Avenue is required prior to tunnel construction.
WHERE: Edgeworth Avenue, approximately between Lawn Avenue and Richmond Road.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Access for local traffic only during construction. There will be periods of restricted access to driveways on Edgeworth Avenue. Spotters will be onsite to direct traffic. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Edgeworth Avenue, with local pedestrian mobility maintained with posted signage. Short interruptions to water and sanitary services during the daytime will occur periodically during reconnections.
Residents nearby can expect to hear noise and vibration from crews and equipment including hydro-vac and hoe-ramming operations, excavation equipment and other required machinery. Noise and vibrations are monitored and reported to the City. Construction fencing will be in place along the work area. Driveway access will be maintained; however, some delays may occur while crews are working directly in front of the residences while renewing new water and sanitary services. Residents should expect short delays periodically during the day. On-street parking will not be available at this north end of Edgeworth Avenue during this construction. Construction vehicles will access the area primarily via Edgeworth Ave from Carling Ave and Richmond Road and using Lincoln Fields. Final paving and reinstatement will occur this summer after work is completed.
