Stage 2 O-Train Extension Project Update May 11 to June 7, 2024 Overall The City of Ottawa’s Rail Construction Program continues to make progress expanding the O-Train Network.
Construction continues across the east and west Stage 2 O-Train extensions:
• In the east, systems work, and station construction continues. Progress continues to be made to the stations and on the Place d’Orléans and Trim pedestrian bridges.
• In the west, progress continues at the Light Maintenance and Storage Facility (LMSF), Moodie Station, Bayshore Station, Pinecrest Station, Queensview Station, Iris Station area, Algonquin Station, Lincoln Fields Station, Kichi Zìbì Station, Westboro Station, Sherbourne Station and New Orchard Station. Cut and Cover Tunnel construction is nearing completion.
O-Train East Extension
• Highway 174 Median o Road work along Highway 174 continues.
• Pedestrian Bridges
o Work on the Place d’Orléans and Trim pedestrian bridges continues. o Wire pulling and electrical work for the Trim pedestrian bridge is ongoing. Electrical connection from the bridge to the south station building and installation of the metal ceiling is complete.
o Bulkhead framing and fire protection rough-ins are complete for the Place d’Orléans pedestrian bridge. Expansion joint installation, curtain wall preparation, door frame installation and ceiling installation is ongoing.
• Montreal Station
o Work on the building envelope at the concourse level and stairways of the north station building is complete.
o Electrical and mechanical finishes along with elevator adjustments are complete in both the north and south station buildings.
o Work to address final deficiencies at both station buildings is underway.
• Jeanne d’Arc Station
o Final finishing and commissioning work at the east and west station buildings continues. o At the platform level, fencing installation is complete and installation of tactile walking surface indicators (TWSI) has begun.
• Convent Glen Station
o Electrical and mechanical rough-in work continues.
o Elevator installation is ongoing. o Siding installation and the tactile strips at the platform level are complete.
• Place d’Orléans Station
o Electrical and mechanical rough-in work is complete.
o Finishing work to the station building canopy is complete. o Escalator installation in the station building is complete.
o Ceiling installation continues. o Edge-band lighting installation at the platform level is ongoing and installation of tactile walking surface indicators (TWSI) has begun.
• Trim Station
o Mechanical and electrical work at the concourse level of the east station building is ongoing. Ceiling installation has begun.
o Interior electrical and mechanical rough-in for the building continues. The faregate pour is complete and work to address final deficiencies for the south station building has begun.
o Final finishes at the Bus Operator Building is underway.
• Noise Walls o Construction of noise walls on the south side of Highway 174 continues.
O-Train West Extension
• Moodie Interchange, Moodie Station and LMSF o Mechanical and electrical finishes, room finishes, elevator installation and concourse ceiling installation at Moodie Station is ongoing. o Testing and commissioning of all buildings at the LMSF is in progress.
• Bayshore Station Area o Construction of the foundation wall at the centre station building is ongoing. o Concrete foundation work at the south station building continues. o Framing and insulation installation for the northeast concourse rooms is nearing completion. o Work on the pedestrian tunnel continues.
• Pinecrest Station Area
o Elevator installation, signage installation, and mechanical and electrical finishing work continues. o Demolition of the temporary bus ramp to the east of the station site is complete. o Testing and commissioning of the station building is ongoing.
• Connaught Cut and Cover Tunnel and Queensview Station Area
o Installation of insulation and drywall at the Queensview Station north building along with construction of the exterior walls and glazing work is ongoing.
o Curtain wall support installation and mechanical and electrical finishes for the Queensview Pedestrian Bridge continues. o Tunnel work in the Connaught Park area is ongoing.
• Algonquin Station Area o Station work, including door installation, elevator panels, painting, tiling and other interior finishing continues. o Escalator installation continues.
o At the platform level, work on the electrical duct bank is complete. Expansion joint and flashing work is ongoing.
o Roofing installation and work on the parapet roof and bearings for the pedestrian bridge continues.
• Iris Station and Pinecrest Creek Area
o Concrete work for the stair approach slab and concourse entrance is now complete. o Work on the platform curbs and platform topping continues.
o Lantern and signage installation is ongoing.
o Testing and commissioning of the station buildings has begun.
o Landscaping work at the Pinecrest Stormwater Management Pond continues.
• Lincoln Fields Station
o The interior finishes at the platform level and signage installation continues. Gutter de-icing installation is ongoing.
o Testing and commissioning of the station buildings, concourse and Bus Operator Building continues.
o Anti-graffiti application in stairwells continues.
• Byron and Richmond Corridor (Byron Linear Park)
o Work on the cut and cover tunnel is ongoing.
o New Orchard Station construction continues. Structural steel erection for the west concourse is complete and work on the west concourse roof and stairwells is underway.
o Sherbourne Station construction is ongoing. Concrete work for the east station concourse slab is now complete. Construction of the station stairwells and installation of the platform canopy steel has begun. • Rochester Field & Kichi Zībī Mīkan
o Tunnel backfilling, drainage installation and permanent roadworks are underway.
o Work on pedestrian underpasses along the Kichi Zībī Mīkan is ongoing.
• Kichi Zìbì Station to Tunney’s Pasture Station
o Underground waterproofing and insulation work continues at Kichi Zìbì Station. Steel erection, concrete work and backfilling is ongoing.
o Utilities work at the south end of Kichi Zìbì Station is ongoing. o At Westboro Station, concrete work for footings and foundations, underground waterproofing and mechanical and electrical work continues.
