UPDATE December 2019
Kiewit-Eurovia-Vinci has a Noise Bylaw Exemption for additional geotechnical investigations at the Moodie Interchange from December 2 to December 16 between 10 pm and 6 am.
Typically additional investigation locations are added as construction planning and design work advances. A short duration highway lane closure is required and therefore the work must occur at night, as per the Project Agreement. Impacts to residents nearby are not expected.

The East-West Connectors (EWC) will be drilling boreholes at various locations along the planned alignment, permitting EWC to collect soil and water samples to further inform their design and construction decisions.
This work would begin in the area of the Moodie Drive & Highway 417 interchange as early as Friday May 24 to June 24. Drilling immediately along Moodie Drive could occur in daytime, during off peak hours. However drilling locations along the highway ramps are recommended to occur during overnight hours, as lane reductions along highway ramps can only occur at night.
Truck mounted drill rigs would be used, along with additional support trucks and power tools. The loudest equipment emits approximately 62 dba 30 meters from the source, similar to typical highway sounds. Given the nearest residence is well over half a kilometer away from this work zone, we don’t anticipate residential sound impacts.
Two boreholes along the west side of Moodie Drive will require a closure of the southbound cycling lane for a short stretch. This closure is expected to be implemented for approximately 2-3 days within the above noted work dates, and during that time signage will be in place asking that motorists share the road.
Access to bus stops in the area will be maintained at all times.
