Starting in October 2020, Hydro Ottawa will begin relocating electrical infrastructure to accommodate the LRT Confederation Line West Extension construction along Connaught Avenue.
Overall, this project includes:
- The relocation and installation of a new pole line and adjoining electrical infrastructures; and
- The reinstatement work of the excavated areas to bring the project to completion.
Our preliminary plan estimates that the relocation of the existing electrical infrastructure in the Connaught Avenue area, will take approximately 3 weeks to complete.
- Location: Connaught Avenue, Hanlon Avenue, Hopkins Road, Roman Avenue and Hindley Street
- Project estimated start date: October 2020
- Project estimated completion date: November 2020
Traffic control will be implemented when required in order to ensure that roads remain accessible and safe to residents and staff. In order to minimize noise concerns, we will ensure that the majority of the work is completed weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Over the course of the project, planned power interruptions are expected to occur as a result of this work. Customers impacted by a planned power interruption, will be contacted by Hydro Ottawa.
Understanding that this is a sensitive time with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and that many residents are working from home, we recognize that any construction activities and planned power interruptions can be very disruptive. As such, we want to assure you all construction activities and power interruptions will be scheduled and planned very carefully. Hydro Ottawa crews in conjunction with Bradley Kelly Construction Ltd will be working as quickly and safely as possible to minimize disruption.
We will require access to rear and side yard of premises and all precautionary measures will be taken when accessing customer’s yards and ensure social distancing and public health guidelines are respected for the safety of all.
Be assured that all residents and businesses in the affected area will receive advanced notice of the project and be provided with a point of contact.
