- Workshops with local growers and Master Gardeners
Don’t forget to bring your reusable bags and any seeds you’d like to swap!
Seedy Saturday is a part of a nationwide initiative by Seeds of Diversity, promoting community-based seed sharing and local food sustainability. If you’re not in Ottawa, check out their website for other Seedy Saturday events across Canada!

How to Start a Community Garden Workshop – March 19th
When: Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Online via Zoom
Cost: Free!
Thinking about starting a community garden in Ottawa? Are you a new garden coordinator, or have new coordinators joining your team? We’d love to connect with you at our next How to Start a Community Garden workshop on Wednesday, March 19th!
Here’s what we’ll cover:
- Garden design tips
- Leadership strategies
- Community outreach ideas
- How to access land
- And much more!
The attendance of at least one garden coordinator (or a member of the prospective garden who is working on the application) at a “How to Start a Community Garden” workshop is a requirement in order to apply for funding through the Community Garden Development Fund (CGDF). The CGDF applicant must have attended a workshop in the past 3 years as funding criteria and processes do change periodically. We strongly encourage more than one garden coordinator to attend the workshop if possible.
To register for the workshop, please fill out the Google registration form linked here. You will receive a Zoom link for the session closer to the workshop date. If you have questions regarding this upcoming workshop, please reach out to communitygardening@justfood.ca.
