For several weeks, crews have been working steady on snow removal operations and have made significant progress across the city. Dayshift crews winded down their efforts on Thursday and snowbank removal paused to respond to this storm. The team will assess resuming snow removal operations Friday night and they will continue to keep us updated on their snowbank removal plans.
Next Steps
The Roads and Parking Services team will continue to monitor the forecast, the transportation network and adjust their response according to the weather conditions.
Where possible residents are asked to assist with keeping catch basins clear so that the melting snow has somewhere to go. The City of Ottawa has over 100,000 catch basins to provide drainage to our roadways and greenspaces. As a critical component of the city storm collection system, keeping catch basins clear of debris (leaves, ice, snow, etc.) is important. Find the location of your nearest catch basin using the interactive map found here and help keep our system operating effectively.
