Join the Dementia Society BrainyActive Challenge this September by doing a brain-boosting activity every day for 30 days and help ensure that no one faces dementia alone in Ottawa and Renfrew County.
Did you know that there are many risk factors that can lead to the development of dementia? They include factors like poor diet, lack of exercise, consuming an excess of alcohol, and there are lesser-known factors such as lack of social interaction, hearing loss, and depression.Modifying behaviour, even in simple ways, can help fend off, or even prevent some dementias—this is what inspires our BrainyActive Challenge. Participants ask their communities to sponsor them, as they build brain-healthy habits and raise funds for the Dementia Society. Being BrainyActive can be as simple as riding your bike (wearing your helmet to protect your head!); adding a plant-based meal to your diet; calling a friend each day; or learning a new skill—another language, a new game—to challenge your brain.
