City opens Emergency Reception Centres for residents affected by the storm
Emergency Reception Centres for residents affected by the storm
The City has opened several Emergency Reception Centres where residents can access power and services. The centres are open until 10 pm on Sunday, May 22. They will reopen Monday, May 23, from 10 am until 10 pm on Tuesday, May 24. Locations and hours are subject to change based on community needs.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES
- Keep generators 20 feet away from homes.
- A full upright or chest freezer will keep food frozen for up to 48 hrs during a power failure and a half-full freezer will keep the food frozen for about 24 hrs.
- During a power failure, the refrigerator will keep food cool for 4 to 6 hours, depending on the kitchen temperature and the original temperature of the refrigerator.
- The Distress Centre answers calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with crisis line specialists providing confidential support. Callers can reach the Centre at 613-238-3311.
