The Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) for Ottawa, which considers the potential for long-term growth in electricity demand and varying supply conditions over the next 20 years, is now posted online following the completion a public engagement initiative. The Ottawa sub-region is one of two electricity planning sub-regions in the broader Greater Ottawa Region.
This 20-year electricity plan identified electricity needs in the long term for the Kanata-Stittsville and Southeast Ottawa areas, and reaffirmed end-of-life asset replacement needs in the East Ottawa area. The plan also identifies the requirement for further assessment of options to address limited supply to the regional 115 kV system. Options examined to meet future local capacity needs, including opportunities for targeted, integrated solutions, and next steps are outlined in the plan. The IESO looks forward to continuing to engage with communities to ensure the viability of options to meet these future electricity needs.
