Registration information
Register today to receive notification of land use developments such as:
- Development applications, including Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments
- Site Plan Control
- Plan of Subdivision applications
- Application for a minor variance, or a consent and minor variance (combined) received by the Committee of Adjustment, and
- Other types of land use studies undertaken by the City of Ottawa
If you are a community organization representative and registering your community organization, please complete the registration form and email a copy of the previous year’s annual general meeting minutes to complete your registration. Registrants receive notification of developments and are asked to provide comments to the City staff person responsible for the development application.
Who can register?
If you are within the City of Ottawa and a:
- Resident, ratepayer, homeowner, property owner, or tenant association or organization – which has membership boundaries that are neighbourhood or Ward specific
- Business Improvement Area, merchant association or a business group which has boundaries that are neighbourhood or Ward specific
- Condominium Board of Directors
- Place of worship or church group
- Community newspaper (notice of development applications only), or
- Sports and recreation groups (to receive notice of proposals to close unopened or untraveled road allowances used as recreational trails only)
The City is collecting personal information under the authority of the City’s Public Notification and Consultation Policy for Development Applications.
The City will use this information to:
- Inform the development application proponent(s) that the organization wishes to participate in the pre-application consultation or the community heads up before the formal development application is submitted
- Allow the City planner to notify the organization that a development application has been received, and
- Provide the organization with information about an upcoming planning project or study.
Community organization registration eligibility requirements
To be eligible, a community organization must provide a copy of the minutes from its most recent annual general meeting which show that:
- The meeting was held no earlier than the previous calendar year
- Representatives, directors, or officers were elected in a democratic fashion by the group’s membership, and
- The organization provided advance notice of the annual general meeting and its purpose or by telephone, facsimile or electronic mail and at least 10 members of the organization attended the meeting.
