Dietitians across Canada and in Ottawa are celebrating Nutrition Month 2020 by reminding Canadians that healthy eating is more than food. How you eat is important too.
Here are some healthy eating habits that you can try:
- Be mindful of your eating habits: consider how, why, what, where, when and how much you eat;
- Cook more often: learn quick and easy recipes, time-saving tools and healthy cooking methods;
- Enjoy your food: choose foods that reflect your culture, budget, lifestyle and the flavours you enjoy;
- Eat meals with others: enjoy your meals in the company of friends, family or coworkers.
Set a goal to eat together with friends or colleagues an extra day per week, or to cook a new recipe or an extra day each week instead of eating out.
Check Ottawa Public Health’s Twitter and Facebook page throughout the month of March for information on healthy habits that are more than food. You can also find a dietitian near you or visit Canada’s food guide webpage to support making change in your own healthy eating habits.
What better way to cook, share, and enjoy your food then to try recipes from Ottawa Public Health, Canada’s Food Guide or Cookspiration. These include a variety of recipes that are quick, easy to make and will suit your nutritional needs. You can surprise your friends and family with these delicious recipes this Nutrition Month!
