Ottawa’s Pollinator Appreciation Day at Fletcher Garden is happening Saturday, June 8th from 10am to 2pm!
Wild Pollinator Partners are celebrating the City of Ottawa’s first Pollinator Appreciation Day. The theme is “Get Started,” encouraging you to create your own pollinator garden at home, at your local school, or in a community space. A variety of local organizations will be there to share information and advice:
- Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton
- Ecology Ottawa
- Canadian Wildlife Federation
- Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library
- TreeFest Ottawa
- Biodiversity Conservancy International/Pinhey Sand Dunes
- Monarch Teacher Network
- Bird Friendly Ottawa
- Plus many other WPP members who have created and now manage pollinator gardens
Learn about the city’s recent by-law changes that now allow boulevard gardens – plantings near sidewalks and curbs. As well, researchers and entomologists will be there to answer your questions and provide information about pollinators and their habitat.
Enter to win a free starter pollinator garden kit of 27 plants or learn how to plan your own garden that will attract pollinators with flowers in spring, summer, and fall.
