On November 11th, 2021, the West Criminal Investigation Unit charged a man following acts of vigilantism that took place in the Lincoln Heights area.
The Ottawa Police Service has been investigating a number of thefts from vehicles in the Lincoln Heights area since the beginning of October. The Bayshore Neighbourhood Resource Unit, Community Police Officer, Frontline Patrol officers as well as our West Criminal Investigation Unit have been working with residents and community partners to solve the issue.
On October 31st, 2021, a man accosted a woman whom he believed was responsible for breaking into vehicles. Upon further investigation by police, it was determined not to be the case and the woman was released.
A 29-year-old man, of Ottawa, has been charged with the following offences:
• Assault with a weapon
• Uttering threats
He was released on an Undertaking.
Police are warning residents that acting independently in this way is illegal and can put you or other residents in danger.
