There was concern noted in the community that the exit ramp signs to the 417 on Pinecrest were confusing and leading drivers to take the wrong exit.
I requested that the traffic team investigate the directional highway ramp signage on Pinecrest. The traffic team has confirmed that the signage is placed as approved by the TCP and is as per the approved MTO design. They have also confirmed that what is onsite reflects what has been approved, see the first two graphics below.
Due to the proximity to the bridge, the eastbound (EB) ramp ahead sign cannot be moved any further south away from this location due to the bridge; there is an additional EB ramp sign right at the EB ramp south of the bridge as well, which may be where the double EB sign comment came from. It should also be noted that this EB ramp ahead sign is in the same location as it was before construction. The only change in this area is that the WB ramp is now between the two signs whereas before the westbound sign was just after the ramp, see the third photo below.
KEV is going to add a 100m tab on the EB sign (similar to Moodie before the SW ramp closed) to let motorists know it is in fact a ramp ahead sign. Hopefully, this addition to the sign will solve the confusion.
