In preparing Ottawa’s new Older Adult Plan, the City is looking for your assistance in the selection of bench locations.
Approximately 10 to 12 new benches will be installed across the City in 2021 to support older adults requiring additional mobility assistance, and to encourage healthy and active living.
Where would you like to see a bench? Your suggestion should consider:
- density of seniors living close by
- natural features like shade, sun and privacy
- proximity to parks, shopping, churches and seniors services
- possible mid-points between older adults’ places of residence and regular destinations
The City will be looking for looking for locations which abut an accessible sidewalk, are on its right-of-way and adhere to its Accessibility Design Standards.
