The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre is a non-profit charitable organization in the west-end of Ottawa. They offer quality programs and services to seniors and adults with disabilities living in their own homes. They support and encourage independence and community involvement. Medical Transportation
Seniors can call the Olde Forge and have someone to take them to medical appointments. Seniors are picked up at their home in a car with plexi-glass barrier between themselves and the driver. Only one passenger goes in the car at a time. Costs per trip is $12.00 round trip. The client is billed by The Olde Forge, so no money changes hands. Call 613-829-9777 to set up. Non-urgent transportation
Seniors in the Olde Forge catchment area can have transportation to non-urgent appointments with 7 days notice. Call 613-829-9777 to register for the program and to arrange your ride. Fee is $12.00 per round trip ride within the City of Ottawa.
Grocery Shopping Assistance and Prescription Pick-up
Seniors can call The Olde Forge and register to have a volunteer do their grocery shopping for them. Clients will be asked to give their credit or debit card information through a confidential system and everything will be arranged with the grocery store. No one has the client’s information but The Olde Forge, which keeps it entirely protected. The fee is $4.00 per order.
Another option is to have a volunteer drive the senior to the grocery store to do her/his own shopping during the early morning period set aside for seniors’ shopping. The fee is $7.00 round trip. Home Help
Seniors can get help with their home cleaning, maintenance and outdoor work for a fee of $25.00 per hour. Call to register and get more information at 613-829-9777 x 227.
Friendly Conversations to Help Combat Isolation
Seniors who would like to make contact with people outside their home are encouraged to call The Olde Forge and sign up for one-time conversation or regular check-ins with someone to talk with. Call Karen at 613-829-9777 to register and find out more.
