Notice of upcoming construction activities at the Waste Water Pumping Station located at the corner of Croft Street and Grandeur Avenue.
Work is scheduled to commence mid-August and continue until spring of 2021. Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The Project’s scope of work involves installing an isolation gate inside the Pumping Station (identified in the map below as “Underground Vault”). This gate will permit City Staff to safely stop the flow into the station so that when emergency or maintenance work needs to be done it can be done safely.
Direct construction impact to the surrounding residents is not anticipated.
Long closures of the MUP are also not anticipated, but there will times were a small detour will be needed. It is anticipated that these detours would only be 2-3 day events. The NCC will be given at least a 4 day notice when the bike path needs to be modified to that they can put out a communication. The construction is anticipated to be in the late summer into winter and to be completed in early spring.
The following have been identified as construction impacts:
Pedestrian pathway adjacent to the pumping station may need to be temporarily fenced off to allow for station access and/or excavation during construction. If excavation occurs, the pathway will be reinstated following construction.
- Increased noise levels will occur due to excavation, cutting of pipes, and operation of heavy equipment.
- Traffic impacts are minimal, with the possibility of a minor increase in vehicle traffic.
- There will be no impact to water quality/water pressure, and work will not impact wastewater collection.
Constructions activities are tentatively planned to begin near the end of August 2020 and are anticipated to last approximately 9 months.
