Lincoln Fields – Connaught Park – Iris Station
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight in the Lincoln Fields, Carling Avenue, and Connaught Park areas including along the Transitway. Work will take place daily with periodic night shifts across the alignment of the West extension.
WHAT
Night work is required from the area of Lincoln Fields Station, Carling Avenue, the Transitway to Iris Station as work proceeds on bridges, structures, utilities, and roads. Overnight activities may include excavation and hauling, concrete pouring, drilling, paving, grading, and lane closures. Efforts will be made to reduce impact to residents as much as possible.
WHEN
As required, between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. January through March, 2023.
WHY
To complete critical project work that is time sensitive and/or required during off-peak hours.
WHERE
Lincoln Fields Station area and on Carling Avenue, Connaught Park, along the Transitway, up to Iris Station area (Pinecrest Creek Corridor)
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Residents nearby may experience noise and vibration from crews and equipment. Construction workers are oriented, trained and consistently reminded to be good neighbours by not slamming tailgates or yelling when working. Use of equipment like vac trucks, required to locate utilities and excavate, and activities like hoe-ramming, roller compacting etc. are done during daytime hours. Light plants, generators and compressors are placed onsite and as far away from neighbouring homes to the extent possible and are wrapped with Echo Barriers. Trucks will only use approved haul routes.
Accessibility is an important consideration for the Stage 2 LRT project. The Stage 2 team makes every effort to provide access through and around construction sites. If you require special accommodation, please contact stage2@ottawa.ca.
The safety of the public and workers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience during construction.
Residents should be aware that throughout 2023, there will be an increased requirement for nightwork across the alignment. A weekly summary of nightwork will also be shared at the outset of each week. If you would like to be included in the weekly updates, please email damon.berlin@ottawa.ca to be added to the distribution list.
Future work is required in this area. Additional construction updates, such as changes to work sequencing and the duration or impact of this work will be communicated via the Stage 2 project e-newsletter. To receive these electronic updates please sign up at Ottawa.ca/Stage2connect. Be sure to select updates for “Lincoln Fields, Iris and/or Queensview Station”.
