Noise By-law Exemption: Stage 2 Confederation Line Extension (Carling Avenue)
Notices will be delivered to residential dwellings located closest to this work zone and sent to representatives of nearby community associations.
Borehole drilling will commence in the area of the Lincoln Fields-Carling Avenue as early as the week of June 27. Drilling will take place on the north sidewalk of Carling Avenue, slightly east of the pedestrian entrance to Lincoln Fields Station (see image above). This work is scheduled to occur at night to minimize impacts on pedestrian and cyclist access to Lincoln Fields Station. Sidewalk access will be maintained for this work.
Truck mounted drill rigs will be used, along with additional support trucks and power tools. The loudest equipment emits approximately 62 dba 30 meters from the source, similar to typical highway sounds. Noise from drilling and related activities will occur intermittently at moderate levels. The closest borehole location is approx. 40 m away from residential areas along Carling Avenue. Minimal light impact is expected as efforts will be made to avoid directing lights towards residences.
Existing pedestrian and cycling access around the drilling sites will be maintained in a safe and efficient manner with the installation of appropriate warning and detour signage and monitoring by traffic control personnel.
