East-West Connectors (EWC) have advised us that borehole drilling is required in various locations on the southwest transitway between Lincoln Fields and Baseline Station. In order to minimize impacts to transit and pedestrians, some work is required to take place during overnight hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
The Noise By-law Exemption request permits work, between Lincoln Fields and HWY 417 (see image above), to occur during overnight hours between August 5 and September 5. Please note, work may wrap up earlier in the absence of inclement weather or equipment issues. The request for the noise by-law exemption permit is 30 calendar days and it takes into consideration preparation, unforeseen delays, and a coordinated effort between Lincoln Fields Station and Baseline Station.
Truck mounted drill rigs will be used, along with additional support trucks and power tools. The loudest equipment emits approximately 62 dba 30 meters from the source, similar to ambient noises nearby. Noise from geotechnical drilling should not affect residential areas any more than normal local transitway traffic.
