I’m sure you’ve noticed the new amazing mural along Carling Ave.
On Wednesday, October13th, we got together to celebrate the Paint It Up Carling Ave Mural. Artist Kalkidan Assefa (aka @Drippin_Soul) worked youth from the Britannia Woods and Michele Heights Communities to look at what their community meant to them and how best to reflect that in a mural. The youth were also part of the painting process.
I was happy to initiate this project which was also supported by:
- Crime Prevention Ottawa / Prévention du Crime Ottawa – Paint it Up Program
- BGC Ottawa – lead community partner on this project – provided youth outreach and support throughout the process
- Britannia Woods – youth outreach and support
- Starlight Properties provided resources and support for celebration
- Public Works & Environmental Services – Paint it Up Coordinator
- RCFS staff for supporting and for the facility throughout the process
- Community and Social Services Dept provided support throughout the process
