New automated speed enforcement is proposed for 2021/2022 implementation at WOODROFFE AVE from GEORGINA DR to HIGHWAY 417 in front of D. Roy Kennedy Public School. The speed cameras only cover one direction of traffic. The direction would be selected based on a review of the speed data and any physical constraints within the right-of-way that impacts placement of a camera. These cameras are installed at certain community safety zones near schools where speeding is a risk to our most vulnerable road users, our children.
Currently there is one existing location in Bay Ward northbound at BAYSHORE DR near 50 BAYSHORE DR in front of St. Rose de Lima School.
As per ASE Ontario, in 2017, Ontario authorized the use of ASE in municipalities to address ongoing issues with speeding in school zones and community safety zones. With municipalities collecting local data that indicates where speed is a factor, this data will now be used as evidence to pinpoint where ASE can be implemented in their communities to help make a difference.
