Sunday, November 22 is National Housing Day
In early 2020, Ottawa declared an affordable housing emergency. Approximately 12,500 households are waiting for housing which will give them the capacity to maintain a home and feed their children. Housing affordability continues to be an increasing concern for both renters and owners in Ottawa. The pandemic has only added to the financial and emotional stress of people who are already struggling.
This week we will see the first draft of our new Official Plan, which is ambitious in its intention to make our city a better place for all our citizens to live. I believe that Bay Ward can play an important role in addressing this critical issue, and I look forward to working together to make a difference.
