Next week at Ottawa City Council we will table the motion moved by myself and seconded by Councillor Ariel Troster on the Solidarity with the People of Iran.
The motion asks that Ottawa City Council go on record as standing in solidary with the people of Iran who are fighting for their freedom and fundamental human rights. This includes a show of support through the symbolic installation of “Mahsa Amini” street plaques at intersections on Metcalf Street between Somerset Street east and McLaren Street as a sign of the City of Ottawa’s solidarity with the Iranian women, men and children who are fighting for their democratic and human rights in Iran.
