It was my privilege to visit the Moodie Confederation Line, Light Rail Maintenance Facility (LMSF) to see the newly arrived LRT trains that will soon be tested on the tracks from Moodie Station to Bayshore. They are trains that have already been used in Stage 1 operations. After years of work the project is now at a point where trains are being brought in for future operations.
The LMSF will be used to maintain trains including a wash station and overhead catwalk for inspection of trains.
Thanks to Stage 2 Team for arranging the visit.

Trillium Line Moves One Step closer to Passenger Operation!
Exciting news this week that trial running will begin for the Trillium line which means 21 days of trial running will begin this Monday, October 7th. Attached is the presentation explaining the process and next steps.
This is good news for everyone as a major section of the new transit service begins operation. This will give residents an opportunity to see transit making a difference in getting around our city on this North/South route that connects with Stage 1 LRT. Stage 2 East and West will be the final steps in the completion of our new transit network.

OC Transpo has informed us that trial running for the O-Train South Extension is starting on
October 7, 2024. This is a significant milestone for the O-Train Extension project. It marks the
completion of construction, testing and commissioning and training of staff.
OC Transpo has incorporated all the recommendations from the Public Inquiry and the lessons
learned reports from Line 1 into this project, including trial running. Trial running is a key step
that allows OC Transpo, its outside experts, and the independent verifier, to ensure that the
safety and reliability of the entire integrated system within a minimum 21-day period meets the
operational standards the city expects.
There are two different criteria that must be met for trial running to be successful:
- Service Reliability Standard: Our maintainer must meet a minimum rolling average of
98.5 per cent on time-performance for a minimum of 14 days. - Operational and Maintenance Scenario Evaluations: This requires our maintainer to
demonstrate over a period of seven days that it can respond to unforeseen operational
events effectively and efficiently.
Residents can follow along the progress of trial running by visiting the new website that has
been launched by OC Transpo. On this website you will be able to find additional helpful
information on trial running and results from the daily reports. Daily reports will be shared
Monday through Friday.
Following the successful completion of trial running Council will receive a full briefing on the
results of trial running and the opening date. If you have additional questions, you can contact
stage2@ottawa.ca for more information.
