Halloween has always been one of my favourite holidays. I love seeing the costumes of the children at my door. I have enjoyed chatting with their parents. My husband and I have also enjoyed putting on silly pirate hats to join in the fun. Although we decorated our door this year, it is with a heavy heart that we will be following Ottawa Public Health recommendations and will not be giving out treats. Instead, I will make a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank and UNICEF to help children in need.
I hope that children everywhere will continue to have fun and enjoy the spirit of Halloween by dressing up. I am impressed with the examples of Bay Ward communities who have come up with #HalloWise alternatives for neighbourhood children to enjoy. Read about some fun ideas from the OPH to inspire everyone. Regardless of the changes this year I hope you all have a booootiful Halloween.
