Over the past five months we have had to come to terms with adapting to significant changes in our in our lives; overcoming social challenges, sorting out logistics and acclimatizing to new routines. Many have had to make personal sacrifices and difficult decisions.
I want to take this time to thank you and celebrate everyone who has and continues to make a conscious effort to comply with the guidelines and recommendations set out by Ottawa Public Health to keep themselves, as well as others, safe from contracting COVID-19. I want to thank the countless number of Bay Ward residents who have volunteered their time to help support others in need.
And finally, I give a big shout out to all the essential workers who have displayed courageous, selfless, and genuine caring for those who need it most during the COVID pandemic. We know you have been missing your families, loved ones, as you are caring for everyone else. Thank you for your long shifts, dedication, and being on the frontlines.
As summer vacations come to an end and families plan and prepare for the new school year in September, we must continue to focus on strengthening the momentum we began five months ago and be COVIDWise .
Please be proud of the effort you make, the work you do and the person you are. We all make a difference to our success in controlling COVID.
