Winter is not coming. It’s here!
As we deal with this latest snowfall we can at least appreciate that there are many ways to enjoy this snowy winter season. Here in Ottawa there are many options. We have the second weekend of Winterlude and in Bay Ward we now have our own Britannia Winter Trail so you can cross country ski, snowshoe or just stroll on the trail here in our community. There are also neighbourhood Winter Carnivals in Woodroffe Park and Frank Ryan park this Sunday afternoon and at Barry Mullen Park and Britannia Park next weekend on the 16th. These events are a great way to meet your neighbours and have some fun thanks to the community volunteers who make them happen. We’ll need to bundle up in layers as the temperature drops on Saturday, but hopefully we can still enjoy outside time in our family and neighbours.
Please note that the grand opening of the Britannia Winter Trail will take place on Sunday, February 16. Activities start at 11:30 am and the official ribbon cutting is at 1 pm during the Winter Garden Party outside, just north of the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre in Britannia Park. Hope you can join for this exciting addition to the Bay Ward.
Have a great weekend.
