Monday October 6 was the day the that the full impact of the LRT changes were felt. The parallel bus service ended and buses delivered riders to the LRT main platforms at Tunney’s and Blair. On the first day there were some minor issues, but in general it went well. However, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday commuters experienced major issues and delays.
I have included in this issue of the Bay Ward Bulletin the memo sent to Council from John Manconi, General Manager, Transportation Services Department, about the problems with the LRT this week. These types of issues are unacceptable. OC Transpo must do better. Residents are beginning to predict that the LRT issues will be worse in the winter. When people lose confidence in transit and they will start using their vehicles to commute.
OC Transpo has implemented numerous improvements to assist customers. I hope that residents continue to use our transit. When Stage 2 is finished this will improve the daily commute for hundreds of thousands of Ottawa residents and will be great for the environment.
