Come out and cheer us on!
Tomorrow will be the first Britannia Park Triathlon in support of the Britannia Woods Community House. Please free to come out and support amateur athletes from children running a 1k to seasoned athletes doing an Olympic triathlon distance. I will be doing a Sprint Triathlon which will be a 500m swim in the Ottawa River, a 20k bike ride, and a 5k run. The weather forecast looks great although the water temperature will be chilly! This is a chance to support an established race right here in Bay Ward. See you at the Finish Line!

That Feeling of Frustration
As most of you will already know the City of Ottawa has still not been given an opening date for the LRT Confederation Line to be in operation. This is incredibly frustrating for all residents who use the OC Transpo transit system. On September 2, 2018, many routes were changed in anticipation of LRT opening and this has particularly inconvenienced those who use the Number 11 bus route. The route was cut for service to Bayshore. I was pleased when the General Manager of OC Transpo, John Manconi, promised he would see the #11 route reinstated to its original format but it was all contingent on the startup of the LRT. We are now close to the one year mark of this service cut, along with many other service cuts that have caused buses to be cancelled or delayed. This first stage of the LRT system is so important to our city. We have started the preparations for the Stage 2 component that will run westbound through Bay Ward, as well as south and east.
I will be continuing to ask for contingency plans from OC Transpo to help transit riders get through this LRT delay. Transit riders have suffered this past year. This winter was very hard on all of us. We need reliable, fast, accessible transit as the backbone of our transportation network. I will continue to speak up on your behalf to improve service.
