The City of Ottawa processes marriage licences on behalf of the Province of Ontario through our ServiceOttawa Counter Services. The regulations in place for the issuance of licences require an in-person component. Due to the current COVID-19 provincial Stay at Home order, the City of Ottawa temporarily suspended in-person counter services on April 3, 2021.
Since we are entering peak season for marriage licences, ServiceOttawa has commenced the on-line receipt of applications for marriage licences as of Wednesday May 12, 2021. This is the first step in the process and ServiceOttawa staff are available to support residents to ensure that their application is complete.
ServiceOttawa is planning a curbside pick-up service to enable residents to continue to access this important service.
