Next week, one of this year’s exciting Stage 2 LRT milestones will take place at the Highway 417 Pinecrest Road interchange when crews demolish a piece of Pinecrest Road and slide in a new bridge to make way for future LRT tracks. As we prepare for the Pinecrest Rapid Bridge replacement Pinecrest Road and select on- and off-ramps for Highway 417 will close from Friday, June 25 to Wednesday, June 30 for construction on the Stage 2 Light Rail Transit Project.
The eastbound Highway 417 on- and off-ramps to Greenbank Road, and the westbound off-ramp to Pinecrest Road will remain open. Signed detours will be in place.
A free shuttle service for pedestrians and cyclists will run between bus stop Highway 417 / Greenbank (4081) and the Pinecrest Bus Station (3019). The shuttle will run every five minutes throughout the day, between 6 am and 10 pm Monday through Friday, and between 8 am and 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday. It will run every ten minutes overnight. Customers can find out where to catch their bus by calling 613-741-4390 or visiting octranspo.com.
This work will mark a major milestone on the Stage 2 project when complete, as it will allow the O-Train West extension to run underneath Pinecrest Road and Moodie Drive along the bus rapid transit corridor. During the closure the City will install a precast bridge next to the existing Pinecrest Road for the future LRT to travel beneath. The current transitway station west of Pinecrest Road will shift south to join the O-Train West alignment.
