The City of Ottawa has received a Lifting of a Holding Symbol application due to the provision which requires that a holding symbol remain in place until such time that a Site Plan Control application is submitted that includes an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that is deemed satisfactory by City staff. An EIS has been submitted in support of the Site Plan Control application, which will be reviewed by Staff.
Site Plan Control application to construct a two-storey 7,836 square feet building that will feature an open learning space, office area, and a total of eight parking spaces with one dedicated space for accessible parking.
Proposal Details
The subject site lies within the Wesley Clover Campground facility which is located within the Greenbelt and owned by the National Capital Commission. The site directly fronts Corkstown Road and is west of Moodie Drive and east of March Road. More specifically, it is bounded by an active Canadian National Railway corridor and the Trans Canada Trail to the north and the edge of a forested ridge to the west. Currently the site is occupied by trailer and tent sites on private roads with uses associated with the campground including an office, comfort stations, workshop, natural playground and
an amphitheater.
The application proposes to construct a two-storey 7,836 square feet building on a portion of the existing Wesley Clover Parks Campground facility. This building will be used by the ‘Forest and Nature School’ and ‘Canadian Centre for Outdoor Play’ and will feature an open learning space, office area, and a total of eight parking spaces with one dedicated space for accessible parking. The Canadian Centre for Outdoor Play will utilize the existing Wesley Clover Parks Campground driveway for site access and egress to minimize the overall footprint of the development.
The application will only apply to a portion of the campground site directly surrounding the proposal and not the entirety of 411 Corkstown Road.
